Zirkle “Booster” Blakey
Zirkle Blakey, known as “Booster” by family and friends, died early Thursday morning, March 19th, 2015. Born December 30th, 1925, he was the son of the late Zirkle and Mary Neal Blakey and was predeceased by his sister Margaret Trimmer and his brother James Edwin Blakey.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Jean; his two sons, Zirkle Blakey III and his wife Laurie, and Robert Neal Blakey and his wife Tammy; two grandchildren Mary Beth and her husband Robert Dimitri, and Nathaniel.
Booster served in the U.S. Army in World War II and was wounded in Germany in 1945. For many years he was a merchant in Stanardsville.
The family wishes to express sincere appreciation for the care extended by Hospice of the Piedmont/Rapidan and the aides of At-Home Care Staffing.
Reverend Chuck Winner will officiate the service to be held on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, VA 22968.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Burial at the Stanardsville Cemetery will be private.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Stanardsville Cemetery Association, P. O. Box 37, Stanardsville, Va. 22973.
