Virginia was ready to take her flight home with her heavenly angels. Her family was with her when she was called to her heavenly home by her best friend, her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at her home in Ruckersville, Virginia. She was known as Tricky by family members who loved her. She was forever surrounded by the love of her Lord and Savior who always walked with her each day and through many trials. God was always with her and never left her alone.
She was a gift from God, given to her parents, Ellis W. Pritchett and Wilma Birkhead Pritchett, who preceded her in death. Virginia was also preceded in death by two sisters and six brothers. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Howard C. Shifflett, Jr. who went to his heavenly home on January 17, 2015.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Rhonda L. Duncan (Michael) of Charlottesville, VA; her son, Duane R. Tooley (Doronda) of Stanardsville, VA; her beloved grandson, Zander A. T. Duncan, who she loved dearly (you will always be Granny’s little sugar booka sweetie pie). It was a pleasure to know that Zander made an impression on many different people that he came in contact with; her adopted grandson, Ethan Tierney, whom she loved a lot.
She also leaves to cherish her memory, her nieces and nephews, that she loved; special cousin and other daughter, Bonnie L. Bradley; her loving adopted family, Tim, SoYoung and Danny Brown of Washington, D.C.; special friends, Gale and Bobby Shifflett, Mike Lamb and Roy and Sally Wyant.
Virginia was employed and retired from the University of Virginia after 30 years of service.
Virginia was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she faithfully attended to worship with God. She was involved in her church doing things that God asked her to do. She was faithful to her nursing home ministry and she loved it when the Lord would speak to her heart on various things. God always provided a way for her to pass on the blessings that God gave to her. A few of her favorite Bible verses are Psalms 118:1-6 and 14-24, Psalms 121:1-2, Mathew 18:20, Revelation 121:4, John 14:1-4 and many others. Virginia loved her devotional time with God.
