William Henry Shipp Jr.

William Henry Shipp Jr., 82, of Ruckersville, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at The Laurels of Charlottesville. He was born on December 26, 1940 to the late William Henry Shipp Sr. and Ardenia Frances. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Maxine Mundie Shipp and his sister Doris Shipp Gavala.  

William worked as a lineman at Centel Telephone Company for 20 years before retiring. He was a deacon at the Barboursville Baptist Church and a lover of the New York Yankees; he was a long time fan. 

He is survived by his brother Carl Francis Shipp and wife Joyce, niece, Tracey Brown and husband Dave, and nephew Erik Shipp and wife Alice. 

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 3, 2023 at Holly Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Keith Harris. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 2, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at McDaniel Funeral Home. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the Barboursville Baptist Church, PO Box 87, Barboursville, Virginia 22923.
