Wellman Nelson Morris

Wellman N. Morris of Earlysville, Virginia died peacefully on the 23rd of September 2016, ten days after celebrating his 83rd birthday surrounded by family. Born in 1933 in Baltimore, Maryland to Sylvester and Nettie Morris and raised in Greene County, Virginia, Wellman served two years in the Army in Salzburg, Austria. He was a kind and caring husband and father who loved his family, the Charlottesville Church of the Brethren, his garden and UVA sports. He was devoted to his wife of 54 years, Madeline, who preceded him in death by eight years. He is survived by son Dr. Gary Morris, daughter Dr. Pam Morris, granddaughter Lindsay Morris and two brothers, Donald Morris (Caroline) and Jimmy Morris (Betty) and many others who cared for him deeply. Dad had many caregivers that we wish to thank, starting with John Kriebel and Ted Kriebel who enabled Dad to live in the home he loved for several years. The family would also like to thank the staff and affiliated partners of The Harbor at Renaissance of Greene County for providing our father with a safe and peaceful home for the past 40 months. We are especially grateful to Paige Shifflett and Sierra Pritchett who helped to care for our Father with an abundance of kindness and grace. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, September 26, 2016, at the Evergreen Church of the Brethren with a reception to follow in their fellowship hall.
