Virginia Shifflett
Virginia Shifflett, 81, of Stanardsville, VA departed this life on July 25, 2011. She was born on May 30, 1930 to the late Marcellus and Addie Collier Shifflett.
She was the wife of the late Samuel Clarence Shifflett and was also preceded in death by a son, James O. Shifflett, her granddaughter, Crystal Morris, great grandson, Tristen Roach and son-in-law, Otis Roach, all of Stanardsville, two brothers, Ollie Shifflett and Alvin Shifflett and her sister, Alder Lawson, and ex son-in-law, Ronnie Shifflett.
Mrs. Shifflett is survived by six daughters, Minnie Shifflett and her companion, Jay, of Stanardsville, Delmar Roach of Stanardsville, Lois Shifflett of Somerset, Helen Morris and her husband, Earl of Dyke, Patsy Roach and her husband, Johnny of Louisa, and Connie Shifflett and her companion, Bill of Ruckersville. She also leaves four special siblings whom she raised after her mothers death, John Shifflett and his wife, Hattie and Geneva Shifflett both of Stanardsville, Madeline Shifflett and her husband, Lonnie of Madison and Marie Conley of Charles Town, WV.
Additional survivors include ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, her ex son-in-laws, James Shifflett, Kenny Shifflett, Neal Houchens and Craig Shifflett, and many nieces and nephews and friends too numerous to name, whom were all special to her.
A special thank you to Dr. Bentley Calhoun and Staff, the UVA Transfusion Center, the ladies of Tassco II (Stephanie, Felicia, Mary and Theresa). We could never thank each of you enough for the kindness you have shown to our Mom.
Mom was the world’s greatest mother, grandmother, and great grandmother that anyone could have wished for. Her life’s greatest joys were cooking Sunday dinners for her family and friends. Her hearts greatest desire was to serve the Lord, and always care for the needs of others.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, VA 22968.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 2 p.m. at First Mission Pentecostal Holiness Church, on Simmons Gap Rd with Brother Frank Chapman and Brother Bob Akers officiating.
Interment will follow in Evergreene Cemetery.
