Virginia Geer McCauley, 75, of Crozet died peacefully on Sunday, May 15, 2011 in Stanardsville, VA. She was born on September 10, 1935 in Greene County to the late John and Porcha Geer.
Mrs. McCauley was a member of the Charlottesville Moose Lodge. She enjoyed spending time going to the Good Will and yard sales, sewing and working in her yard. She will be remembered as a hard working, sweet spirited and devoted mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Franklin McCauley, her brother, Lloyd Geer, two sisters, Zadie Taylor and Lilly Morris and her grandson, Dale “Buck” Conley.
Survivors include her son, David Franklin McCauley of Crozet, her daughter, Malicia “Bunny” Conley and her husband, Dale, her granddaughter, Joann all from Stanardsville and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, VA 22968.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Ryan Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Dean officiating.
Interment will follow in Mt. Herman Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be B.C. Gibson, Trevor Breeden, Luther Breeden, Jody Powell, Merrill Powell and Carlton Conley.
The family would like to thank Hospice of the Piedmont and a special thank you to Dr. Joshua Fisher, Dr. William Hammond, Dr. Mark Keeley and the staff at Martha Jefferson Hospital.
