Virgil Richard Bodrey, 78, of Charlottesville passed away Monday, October 22, 2018.
He was born January 30, 1940 in Cordele, GA, son of the late John Richard Bodrey and Della Corrine Sullivan Bodrey.
Virgil is survived by his wife, Joyce Diane King Bodrey; two children, Joshua Andrew Bodrey (Julie) and Carolyn Jean Bodrey-Ness (Stewart); one sister, Donna Rockhold (Larry); five grandchildren, Sarah Wilson, Amber Sherwood, Lisbeth Sheetz, Orlando Ness and Christopher Shinaberry; three great-grandchildren, Gavin, Courtney and Aiden; and many other family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Virgil was preceded in death by a son, David Kevin Bodrey; a daughter, Wanda Kay Shinaberry; two granddaughters, Tabatha Beam and Rebecca Nicole Shinaberry; and siblings, Virginia Stansell and Douglas Bodrey.
Virgil retired from the US Navy after 21 years. He was then employed and later retired from Northrup Grumman as a Field Engineer.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Church of Latter Day Saints, 1275 Timberwood Blvd. Charlottesville, VA 2291. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
