Timothy Lee Proffitt

Timothy Lee Proffitt, affectionately known to many of us as “Tim” or “Timmy,” 52, of Ruckersville, Virginia, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. Born on April 8, 1972, the son of Willie Edgar Proffitt and Lois Faye Shifflett Proffitt. 

Tim was preceded in death by his brother, David Allen Proffitt. 

In addition to his parents, Tim leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. His loving wife, Cindy Snow Proffitt, his four children, LeeAnne Proffitt, Elizabeth Norford (Jonathan), Timothy Proffitt, Jr., and Jacob Ryan Proffitt (Morgan), and his brother, James Edgar Proffitt (Laura), were his world. His love for his grandchildren, Connor Lee Proffitt, Cooper Allyn Proffitt, Jaxson Aries Shifflett, Ivy Blake Norford, and Ruby Renee Norford, was immeasurable. They were the apple of his eye, and he spoiled them every chance he got. He cherished his nieces, Victoria, Kimberly, Tabatha, and Stephanie. He had three “adopted” sons who he loved as his own: Austin Shifflett, Dekota Johnson, and Justin Roach. His love and laughter will be deeply missed by all.

Tim's service as an Animal Control Officer, badge number 303, for the Greene County Sheriff's Office for ten years was a testament to his selflessness and dedication. He made many friends throughout the county, including his best friends, Stacy Roach and John Runkle “Beaver,” who were like brothers to him for many years. Tim's kindness knew no bounds, and he was always there to offer a helping hand to anyone in need. His impact on the community will be remembered for years to come. 

Although he may be gone, his memory will live on through his many family members and friends. 

As mentioned, Tim was no stranger to the local area. It was also Tim’s wish to have his funeral at Batten Funeral Home due to his relationship with the owner of the funeral home. The family and funeral home staff do understand that there is a high potential for heavily attended services. We ask that all who can please carpool and follow the directions of the funeral staff when attending services to ensure that all the available space is utilized appropriately. 

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Batten Funeral Home. 

A funeral service with public safety honors will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Batten Funeral Home beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Chaplain Pedro Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens. 

Arrangements are entrusted to Batten Funeral Home of Ruckersville, Virginia.
