Thomas Moyers Garth, 81, of Stanardsville, VA died on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Martha Jefferson Hospital after a brief illness. He was born on May 19, 1930 in Charlottesville, VA to the late Thomas Lewis and Magnolia Moyers Garth.
Mr. Garth belonged to Mount Vernon United Methodist Church and the Union of International Operating Engineers. After retiring as a heavy equipment operator he became a cattle farmer and ran Blue Run Grocery. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Berry Garth, two children, Deborah Kaye Garth Deane and her husband, Lebert, and Thomas Michael Garth and his wife, Annette.
Additional survivors include his grandchildren, Amy Deane Wayland and her husband, Jamie, Joseph Michael Garth, Jeremy Thomas Garth and his wife, Danielle, Travis Wesley Garth, and Jessica Marie Garth and his great grandchildren, Bailey Wayland, Alexis Wayland, Jacob Wayland and Lathan Garth.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 2, 2011 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, VA 22968.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Ryan Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Davis officiating.
Interment will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.
