Sylvia Shirley Lawson Mallory, of Stanardsville, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was a native of Greene County, Virginia, and retired from Strongburg Carlson in Charlottesville. Her children and grandchildren were her life. Sylvia was an active, lifelong member of Mount Vernon Methodist Church of Geer. She sang in the choir every Sunday. Sylvia had a great love for bluegrass music and dancing.
Sylvia was born on December 6, 1932, the daughter of the late Everett and Lannie Lawson. She was also preceded in death by her husband Davis Franklin Mallory and precious daughter Loretta Ann Shifflett, and her brother Junior Lawson and wife Joyce.
She is survived by her two sons Thomas Mallory and his wife, Goldie, of Dyke, Virginia, and M.D. Mallory and his fiance, Wanda Shelton of Dyke, Virginia, her sister Darlene McGuffin and husband Ronnie, three grandchildren, Melissa Andrysczyk and her husband, Brad of Ruckersville, Virginia, Thomas Wayne Mallory and his wife Sandy of Dyke, and Clinton Mallory of Fredericksburg, Virginia, six great grandchildren Alexandria Watson and her husband Chris Watson of Ruckersville, Virginia, Andrew Andrysczyk and his wife Carly of Ruckersville, Virginia, Olivia Mallory of Fredericksburg, Virginia, McKenzie Mallory, Chase Mallory and Taylor Mallory, all of Dyke, Virginia, four great-great grandchildren Bradley Andrysczyk, Benjamin Cyrus, Nora Watson, and Emma Watson, all of Ruckersville, Virginia, her best friend from church Janice Rosenburg, four special children she babysat over the years; Seth Jones, Blake Morris, Allison Morris, and Tye Morris, numerous nieces and nephews, and many other family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Mount Vernon Methodist Church of Geer in Stanardsville, Virginia conducted by Pastor Ed Winkler. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Interment will be held at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to Mount Vernon Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
