Shirley Mae Hale Manuel 78, of Stanardsville, Virginia went to be with Lord on Friday, May 8, 2020. Shirley was born in Cripple Creek, Virginia on September 21, 1941. She was the daughter of the late Cecil Thomas Hale and Lula Ellen Reeves Hale.
In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her loving husband Elbert Lee Manuel Sr; two sisters, Nancy Hale and Frances Hale; and a brother, Sonny Hale.
Shirley is survived by her sons, Elbert Lee Manuel Jr, Terry Cecil Manuel (Debbie), and Stephen Allen Manuel; daughters, Dorothy Mae Morris (David), Patricia Lynn Manuel Collier (Timmy), and Sherry Melissa Shifflett (John “Henry”); siblings, Steve Hale (Evelyn) and Edsel Hale; grandchildren, Little Terry, William, Megan, Amanda, Brian, David Jr, Jennifer, Tracy, Austin, Christopher, Shannon, Chad, Cameron, Margaret, and Kenny; and seventeen great-grandchildren. In addition to her family, she was survived by two lifelong friends, Catherine, and Ernestine.
Shirley was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord. She was a devoted member of Solid Rock Church and enjoyed being in the house of the Lord on Sundays. She read her Bible and prayed daily for her family. She loved gardening, cooking, shopping with her daughters, and going out with her friends. She enjoyed sitting outside with her neighbors, Mary, Sue & Russell, Susan, and Gina, socializing, and drinking coffee. Shirley loved traveling and taking trips with her family. The love she had for her family and life itself was endless and indescribable.
