Shannon Dale Dean, 52, of Stanardsville, Virginia passed away suddenly on November 4th, 2024 at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia. His loss is completely unexpected and his family is profoundly saddened.
Shannon was born on November 24, 1971 to a loving home in Stanardsville, Virginia. He graduated from William Monroe High School as part of the Class of 1989 and was awarded his Bachelor of Science in 1993 from James Madison University. Most importantly, Shannon was a follower of Jesus Christ. As a lifelong member of Swift Run Baptist Church, he was heavily involved in the music ministry and enjoyed sharing gospel music with the congregation – and any who would listen. He had a tremendous love for the Greene community and was passionate about the preservation and future of the county. This enthusiasm lead to a keen interest in local and national politics, and sharing conservative values. Shannon also loved bluegrass music and often traveled to concerts up and down the East Coast. As a mandolin player himself, he had a deep appreciation for the genre and had stationed himself as a member of the bluegrass community. Known for his jovial personality and laughter, Shannon had a strong sense of humor and always enjoyed a good joke. His love for his family and friends was unquestioned and he always was willing to lend a hand.
Shannon is survived in death by his mother, Faye Baugher Dean; maternal aunt, Shirley Baugher Butler; paternal uncle, Freddy Dean; maternal cousins Dana Garrard (Knight), Audra Taylor (Chris); paternal cousins Tracy Dean (Bert), Pam Buttner (Troy), and Lenis Gibson (Craig), amongst other beloved family and friends.
