Roberta "Bobbie" Edwards Harlow
January 4, 1927 — June 6, 2011
Roberta Edwards Harlow, known to her friends as “Bobbie”, passed away on June 6, 2011 at the age of 84. Roberta was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to her family. She had a special talent for sewing and she loved designing and making clothing for her family and friends. Roberta translated this creative talent of sewing into Alterations Plus and Original Wears and Wares, two businesses she owned and operated. She attended Spring Hill Baptist Church for many years where she was a member of the choir.
She was born on January 4, 1927 in Albemarle, VA, the daughter of the late Royster A. Edwards and Bessie Farrish Edwards Lloyd. She was a long-time resident of Greene County, VA.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Estes “Dick” Harlow; her parents, Roy and Bessie; a sister, Bessie Jean and her step-father, Ralph Lloyd.
Roberta is survived by two sons, Richard and his wife, Bonnie of Spring, TX and Michael and his wife, Mary of Littleton, CO; three daughters, Brenda Gore and her husband, Thomas of Prince George, VA, Janice Harlow and fiancé, Mike Bell of Ruckersville, VA and Robbi Foster and her husband, Alan of Prince George, VA; one grandson, Jason Harlow, one granddaughter, Stephanie Williamson and one great grandson, Mason Avery and his mother, Mari Vela; three step-grandchildren, Abby, Aaron and Angela; a step-great-granddaughter, Daisy; a brother, Milton Edwards and a sister, Charlotte Nye.
The family will receive guests from 6 -8 p.m. on Friday, June 10, 2011 at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, VA 22968.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Spring Hill Baptist Church, 2620 Frays Mill Rd., Ruckersville, VA
Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Rose Court at The Dunlop House in Colonial Heights, VA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 4600 Cox Rd Glen Allen, VA 23060.
