Robert Leonard Hovey, Sr.
Robert Leonard Hovey, Sr., 66 of Ruckersville, VA died on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Martha Jefferson Hospital. He was born on May 5, 1945 in Fredericksburg, VA to the late Hyatt and Catherine Campbell Hovey.
Mr. Hovey enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to NASCAR races to watch Mark Martin. He was a good man who was always willing to help others. Above all he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who enjoyed joking around with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all he knew.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Margaret Sue Hovey, his children, Becky Morris and her husband, Robert, Patricia Shifflett and her husband, Bruce, Rodney Wright and his wife, Tonna, Sylvia Reddick and her husband, Larry, Dwayne Waters, Christopher Hovey and his wife, Tammy, David Waters, Mark Hovey and his wife, Kim, Jerry Hovey, Joe Hovey, and Angel Hovey.
Additional survivors include his siblings, twin brother, Randolph Hovey, Richard Hovey, Ruby Hey and Audra Clements, 32 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Robert Hovey, Jr and two brothers, Charles Hovey, Sr. and Ferris Hovey, Sr.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 17, 2011 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail Ruckersville, VA 22968.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Morris officiating.
Interment will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave. Dallas, TX 75231.
