Richard “Dick” W. Clay, Jr., 88, of Ruckersville, VA passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, October 3, 2018. He was born April 4, 1930 in Washington, D.C., son of the late Richard Clay, Sr. and Gaye Martin Clay.
Richard is survived by his children, Ellen Carter, Paul (Debbie) Clay, Doug (Kelly) Clay, Rich Clay and Diane Knight; grandchildren, Sabrina (Cameron) Mawyer, Alex Knight, Dustin Clay and Cody Clay; step-grandchildren, Chris (Mary Ellen) Lawson and Eric (Heather) Lawson; one sister, Audrey Hart; expecting his first great-grandchild in January 2019; and many other family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Clay.
Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1949-1953 in the Korean Conflict on the USS Toledo and later was employed by Sperry where he retired with 35 years of service. He was a member of Barboursville Baptist Church.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 8, 2018 at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail Ruckersville with the Rev. Kyle Clements officiating.
