Ray Roach
Ray Roach, 90, of Earlysville, VA died on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at the Hospice House of Charlottesville. He was born on August 5, 1922 in Rockingham County to the late Noah and Clairender Morris Roach.
Mr. Roach served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He later went to work for the Virginia Department of Forestry and retired after 28 years of service. He was a very sociable and outgoing man that enjoyed woodworking and making birdhouses. He loved his pets, especially his cats, T, Tommy, Boss Hog and Roscoe but above all his love was in his family. He will always be remembered as a loving father and grandfather whose tender nature and witty personality will hold a special place in our hearts.
He is survived by his children, Noah Roach and his wife, Betty, Buey “Pat” Roach and his wife, Joanne, Peggy “Suzie” Collier and her husband, Charles, and Greg Roach who took care of him unconditionally for the last fourteen years.
Additional survivors include his grandchildren, Heather Kirby, Shana Collier and Tommie Roach.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Roach, his grandson, Josh Roach and twelve siblings, His twin brother, Ralph, Sam, Larry, Hubert, William, Carl, Iona, Aretta, Vernie, Addie, Dora, and Polly.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Hospice of the Piedmont nurses, staff and volunteers for their love, care and support during these difficult times and also to Juraine Wampler and Sheila Chambers for their care at home during his last few days.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Buck Mountain Cemetery in Earlysville with Pastor Eddie Deane officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Pkwy Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911.
