Otis Lee Collier, Sr., 89, of Dyke, Virginia left this life for his heavenly home April 20, 2017.
He was born April 27, 1927 in Greene County, son of the late George Collier and Laura Morris Collier.
Otis is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Maxine Shiflet Collier; daughters, Joyce Baugher, Terry Tomlin (Kemper), Paula Loving all of Dyke; sons, George Collier (Heather), Rev. Daryl Collier (Pam) also of Dyke and Rev. Thurman Collier (Vicki) of Chester; two sisters, Janet Shifflett of Earlysville and Kathleen Hutchinson of Charlottesville; special daughters-in-law, Charlotte Collier and Linda Collier Pullen.
He was affectionately known as “Grandaddy O” to his 23 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 3 great great-grandchildren. Otis is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who each claimed that they were his favorite. He loved them all and he was loved by all.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant sister, Frances Vernell; sister, Dorothy Collier Morris; two sons, Hollas and O.L. Collier; and son-in-law, Wayne Baugher.
Otis was a building contractor for many years. He was also a lifelong member of Nortonsville Church of God.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Nortonsville Church of God, 1505 Simmons Gap Road, Dyke, VA.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 24, 2017 at Nortonsville Church of God with Rev. David Allison officiating. Interment will follow at Chestnut Grove Cemetery.
