Otho Raymond Butler, Jr.

Otho “Sonny’’ Raymond Butler, Jr., 81, of Ruckersville, Virginia, passed away surrounded by family and friends on July 9, 2024. Born January 2, 1943, the son of the late Otho Raymond Butler, Sr., and Bulah Fincham Butler. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Faye Collier Butler.

Left to cherish his memory is his only son, Otho Raymond Butler, III; siblings, Jean Dunivan (Frank), Diane Hearl (Donald), Kathy Seymore (Lewis), and Elvin Lee Butler (Joanna); and one grandson, Nick Butler. 

Sonny worked for over 30 years as a factory worker for Liberty Fabrics. He took pride in his work and was always described as being hardworking. He was a provider to his family, whom he loved deeply. On his days off, he indulged in his passion for yard sales and flea markets, a hobby that brought him joy and many unique finds. 

Sonny’s life will be celebrated on Monday, July 15, 2024, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Batten Funeral Home. The service will be conducted by Scotty Batten.
