Nellie M. Shifflett, 89, of Earlysville went home to be with her Lord and Savior at her daughter and son in law’s house with her loving and devoted family by her side May 7, 2015. She was born June 13,1925 to the late Emory and Ella Florence Shifflett. She was predeceased by her husband Ray (Jack) Shifflett of 53 years on July 18, 2000, brother James Shifflett; sisters Helen Morris and Minnie Gentry.
Left to cherish her memories her son Ray Shifflett, daughter Jackie and her husband Edward Shifflett. She was known as Nanny to her grandsons and her great grandson. Sam and Lisa Shifflett, Eddie and Julie Shifflett, Jamie Shifflett and fiancé Paige Henry and her son Kote, great grandson Hunter Ray Shifflett whom she adored. Loving sister Doris Herring and family, brother Cecil Shifflett, and sister in law Margaret Birckhead all of Charlottesville.
She was a member of Pine Ridge Church and read her bible every day until her eye sight began to fail. Very devoted to the Lord. She was loving, unselfish, and very devoted to her family. She never met a stranger, always put others first and had a heart of gold. She loved to color with her great grandson Hunter, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.
A special thank you to Laura Taylor of Earlysville, Brenda Morris of Stanardsville for love, support, kindness and inspiration that was given to mom. She loved you as her own daughters. Champ and Jane Ransom for their act of kindness, her grandsons who were always there for her, son in law Edward, Dr. Bentley Calhoun and staff, Hospice of the Piedmont, Barbara Hussey and family.
Due to moms wishes there will be no family night. Contributions can be made to Hospice of the Piedmont or Pine Ridge Church of the Brethren.
A Funeral service will be held on Monday May 11, 2015 at 2:00pm at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersille VA 22968 with Pastor Buster Payne officiating.
Interment will follow at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Earlysville, VA
