Millie Margaret Morris, 94, of Earlysville, passed away peacefully Monday, April 20, 2015 at the University of Virginia Hospital. She was born on October 11, 1920 in Greene County, VA to the late Ashbey J. and Mamie Shifflett.
Millie was employed at Morton frozen food in Crozet, Virginia until retirement. Her family resided in Baltimore, MD for a period of time until they purchased their farm in Earlysville, Va.
She is survived by her sons, Nelson Morris of Scottsville VA and Leon and Brenda Morris of Chattanooga, TN; sister Rebecca J. “Peggy” Shifflett and her husband Edgar L. “Buster” of Charlottesville, VA; three grandkids, Timothy of Jacksonville, FL, Michael of McMinnville, TN and Ronald Wayne Morris of Ruckersville, VA; 9 great- grandkids and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Linda Brown, her niece, who mom thought of as a daughter for her tender loving care and to Blue Ridge Pace, Trinity Mission, UVA Hospital, Doctors, Nurses, Staff and employees for their loving care of our mother Millie.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Elvin, sons Ronald and Leroy; granddaughter Amy Johnson; 6 sisters, Ressie, Kerr, Reda Frances Miller, Ruby Ogle, Artena M Brown, Norma Paquin and Rose Ingram; and 5 brothers, Oliver, Andrew, Pat, Ben J. and Ashbey J Shifflett, Jr.
The family receive friends on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 from 4pm-7pm at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, VA.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 2pm at Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. C. C. Kurtz officiating.
