Mildred “Mickey” Collier of Ruckersville, VA went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 16, 2017. She was born on October 12, 1934 in Charlottesville, VA to Werner and “Willie” McCauley Payne.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Collier, Sr., her son; Richard Kevin Collier; sisters, Catherine Lamb and Mary Staton; brother, Dallas Payne and nephew, Randall “Randy” Turner.
She is survived by her son, Charles “Butch” Collier and his wife, Janie of Ruckersville; her daughter, Michele Barbour and her husband, Frank of Ruckersville; two sisters, Ruth Turner of Stanardsville and Jean Breeden and her husband, Edward “Wack” of Stanardsville.
She was a wonderful grandmother and great grandmother and leaves behind five grandchildren and six great grandchildren as well as 16 nieces and nephews.
Mickey was a people person and loved spending time with her family, going shopping and enjoyed all sports at William Monroe High School in Stanardsville where she was employed for many years.
Our family wishes to thank the staff of the Renaissance Assisted Living in Stanardsville, The Laurels Nursing Facility of Charlottesville, as well as the Hospice of the Piedmont for their love and support for our Mom during her time spent with them.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 19, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, VA 22968.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Ryan Funeral Home with Pastor Josh Shifflett officiating.
Interment will follow at Ruckersville Cemetery.
