Michael J. Campbell
Michael J. Campbell, 55, of Ruckersville, VA passed away suddenly after a brief illness on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born on January 11, 1956 in Decatur, IL to Louise Hanners of Charlottesville and the late Bud Campbell.
Michael was an outdoorsman who enjoyed the forest and rolling mountains. He was very skilled in woodworking and made various things over the years. In his earlier years he worked as a police officer in Illinois and after moving to Virginia he worked as an Equipment Manager for the City of Harrisonburg’s Heritage Oaks Golf Course. Above all, Michael was a loving and wonderful husband for 30 years. His big heart had a great amount of love for his little family. His smile and laugh will be cherished and remembered forever.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Nancy A. Campbell, mother-in-law, Margaret “Peggy” Hardel, his sister, Shannon C. Nall of Arcola, IL, nephews, Brad and Kolby Nall, his cousin, Laura Graff, his special little buddy and companion, Toby, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, family, friends, golf course buddies and all at Heritage Oaks.
In addition to his father he is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Donald Hardel, stepfather, Earl Hanners and step mother, Marcia Campbell.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Stanardsville Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends to celebrate Michael an hour before the service.
Interment will be private.
