Melvin Carroll Shifflett, 71, of Troy passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017 at his home.He was born September 16, 1945 in Charlottesville, Virginia, son of the late Howard Clint Shifflett and Claris Shifflett.
Melvin is survived by the love of his life for the past 27 years, Dianna Morris Crawford; his children, Melissa Shifflett Andrysczyk and her husband, Brad, William Crawford and his wife, Carla; two brothers, Wayne Shifflett and his wife, Judy, Irvin Shifflett and his wife, Jerry; best friend, Bill Mathis and his wife, Linda; four grandchildren, Alexandria Andrysczyk , Andrew Andrysczyk and his wife, Carly, Willy Crawford and his wife, Andrea, and Madison Crawford; four great grandchildren, Bradley Andrysczyk, Benjamin Cyrus, Ava Crawford and Willow Crawford; and a special nieces, nephews and great nephew, Donna, Cynthia, Keith, Michael and Austin Shifflett and Dylan Teel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Howard Shifflett and the mother of his daughter, Loretta Shifflett.
For Melvin, family was everything. He was very proud of all their accomplishments, he was especially proud of his grandson, Andrew’s military service. Melvin deeply loved his daughter, Melissa, and was always devoted to his family and friends. He lived life to the fullest by living in the moment and without worries. One of his favorite passions was cars. He not only enjoyed working on them but racing at Eastside and Summerduck.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, Virginia.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Mt. Eagle Baptist Church, 2419 Buck Island Road, Charlottesville with Rev. Sidney Craig officiating.
Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
