Mary M Shifflett

Mary M. Shifflett, 81, of Dyke passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on July 16, 2016.
She was born August 7, 1934 in Harrisonburg, Virginia, daughter of the late Bill and Ethel Lam.
Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Steve Shifflett of Dyke, Tony Shifflett and his wife, Donna also of Dyke; daughter, Sue Morris and her husband, Doug of Stanardsville; five grandchildren, Anthony Shifflett and his wife, Mandy, Kenton Shifflett and his wife, Beth, Brian Morris and his wife, Hillary, Brad Morris and his girlfriend, Kate, Sarah James and her husband, Adam; nine great grandchildren, Hunter, Wyatt, Nathan, Kaleb, Lucy, Isaac, Hudson, Lyla and Gunnar; brother, Jonas Lam of Elkton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Nathan Shifflett and son, Ricky Allen Shifflett.
Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a great cook and loved having her family come home for lunch every Sunday. With her selflessness and gentle spirit, she brought happiness and love to those who knew her. Her family will miss her so very much.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, Virginia.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, July 18, 2016 at Evergreen Church of the Brethren, 645 Evergreen Church Road, Dyke with Pastor Johnny Hawkins officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s name to the Greene County Rescue Squad, PO Box 302, Stanardsville, VA 22973.
The family would like to thank Albemarle Square Family Healthcare and the Hospice of the Piedmont for their support during a difficult time.
