Mary Morris Robertson

Mary Morris Robertson, better known as Sissie, 80, of Stanardsville, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 16, 2024. She was born on May 13, 1944, to the late Claude Earl Morris and Marie Addie Deane. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Anderson Robertson; sons, John Anthony Robertson and Calvin Wayne Robertson; and daughter-in-law, Toni Robertson. 

She is lovingly remembered by her son, Keith Wade Robertson; three grandchildren, Anderson Robertson, Caleb Robertson, and Candace Swanson; six sisters, Lena Taylor, Margie Shifflett, Ethel Smith (Steve), Doris Breeden (John), Peggy Shifflett (Frank), Patricia Morris (Bunky); two brothers, Kenny Morris (Brenda) and Robert Morris (Cindy); special friend, Diane Branham; and a vast network of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

Family always came first for Mary – she always put her three boys first. After family, her passions were her flower gardens, which everyone adored. Watching Gunsmoke and soap opera shows was also a must. 

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 12 p.m. at Batten Funeral Home for a time of fellowship. Pastor Josh Shifflett will conduct a funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. at Batten Funeral Home, with interment to follow at High Top Cemetery on Snow Mountain Road in Stanardsville. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Sissie’s honor to Hospice of the Piedmont. 

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Lee McDaniel and the staff at Martha Jefferson Cancer Center for your kindness and care of Mary during her illness.
