Maggie Madeline Morris, 78, of Albemarle County, Keswick, Virginia peacefully passed away while surrounded by family on Monday, April 10, 2023 at Martha Jefferson Hospital. Maggie was born on April 24, 1944, in Greene County. She was the daughter of the late James and Maggie Shifflett. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two grandsons, Kenneth Wayne Morris Jr and David Scott Morris Jr and the father of her children, but also dear friend, Lester Archer Morris Sr.
Maggie is described mostly as the foundation of her family, truly believing in the strong roots of where she came from and treating everyone she knew like family. She loved most spending the holidays cooking and being surrounded by her large family. Those who knew her, knew that she spent most of her time sharing moments with her fiancé, Gregory Allen McCauley Sr; whether it was riding around town in her VW Beetle or sneaking a trip to the mall to go buy more diamonds. Many referred to her as “Mrs. Diamonds” because of the amount of jewelry she wore. She shared the good and the bad with all that she loved and she stood beside anyone who called on her. Maggie will be most remembered for the love she poured into her family and the dedication she had to living her life to the fullest.
She is survived by her fiancé, Gregory Allen McCauley Sr, whom she spent many loving decades with. She is also survived by her children; Deborah Jean Beasley and husband James, Lester Morris Jr and wife Kathy, Kenny Wayne Morris Sr and wife Tammy, William Randolph Morris Sr and wife Gina, David Scott Morris Sr and wife Denise, Jamie Lamont Morris and wife Monica, Gregory Allen McCauley Jr and wife Nancy, Maggie Houchens and husband Chris, and Jessica Poindexter and husband Markida and 31 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren and a numerous number of great great grandchildren. Amongst her surviving siblings are sisters, Velma Roberts and Charlotte Perry.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Evergreen Church of the Brethren in Dyke, Virginia with Pastor David Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, April 14, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at McDaniel Funeral Home in Ruckersville, Virginia.
