Lorene "Rene" Minter

Lorene Minter drew her last breath on this side of glory on August 7th, 2022. At 7:36 P.M. on Sunday evening she stepped inside the eastern gates of a city she had longed for most of her 91 years. She was born November 6, 1930 to Vollie Kizer and Ethel Pierce in Eden, NC. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Rush; her brother Linwood; and her sister Aliene Roach.

“Renee” as most knew her made a commitment of service to her Lord and Savior very early in her life and never wavered in her faith that was the cornerstone of every facet of daily life. She was a faithful member of the Emanuel Friends Church in Eden, NC until their move to Charlottesville, Va. in the mid 1950’s where she transferred membership to the Monticello Wesleyan Church and held many positions of service throughout her life.

In her last few years she enjoyed working in her flower’s and sitting on her porch and waving at all the walkers passing her house. She cherished every visit from her neighbors Jenny, Gayle and Betty. She leaves to cherish her precious memory two sons, Steve Minter and his wife Brenda of Earlysville, and Dale Minter and his wife Debra of Lincoln Nebraska. Grandchildren Tyler, Matthew, Joshua and his wife Claire. One great granddaughter Rowan Rae who could put a big smile on her face when none could be found.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday August 11, 2022, at Ryan Funeral Home 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, Va. Funeral service will be at Ryan Funeral Home on Friday August 12 at 1:00 pm with interment following on Saturday in Dan View Cemetery, Eden, NC.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to a special friend and caretaker Sandy Henderson who for several years made it possible for her to remain in the home up to her passing. The family will forever be grateful to you.
