Linda Long Twyman
Linda Long Twyman, 66, died peacefully at her home in Ruckersville, Virginia on Thursday, February 26, 2015. She was born June 26, 1948 in Charlottesville, Virginia, daughter of Harold Linwood Long and the late Joyce Watkins Long.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Taylor Twyman, III and two sister-in-laws, Judith and Tanya.
Linda is survived by her father, Harold Linwood Long of Ruckersville, Virginia; a brother, Harold Randolph Long and his wife, Linda of Warsaw, Virginia; nieces, Elizabeth Long Abercrombie and her husband, Joel, Shannon Long Childs and her husband, Robert, Michelle Gleason Dingman, Dabney Gleason Noble and Deanna Gleason Matthew; great nephew, Tucker Abercrombie; great nieces, Lacey and Hailey Childs; Aunts, Arlene Prestipino, Kathleen Prietz and Pat Dabney; brother-in-law, Tom Gleason; and many other very special family members and friends.
Linda was a devoted wife to her husband, Taylor for 33 years. She was an active member of Stanardsville United Methodist Church and served as Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School teacher at all levels, active in church fundraisers, Lay Reader, and enjoyed giving the children’s message on Sundays. She was a French teacher for 30 years at William Monroe High School. Linda loved teddy bears and animals, especially her beloved schnauzers, “Brittany,” “Ziggy,” “Bauser,” and “Beau.” She loved preparing Thanksgiving dinner for her family and the fellowship that it provided.
The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses and caregivers at the University of Virginia Hospital Critical Care Units on Three Central and Three North for all of their excellent care during her stay at the hospital.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, Virginia.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the Stanardsville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Chuck Winner and the Rev. Margaret Gillette officiating.
Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.
