Lillian Mavis Collier, formerly of Earlysville, VA and a resident of Grace Health and Rehab in Stanardsville, VA for over 13 years, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2016. Mavis was born on April 7, 1927 in Earlysville, VA, the daughter of the late Luther and Vernie Roach Breeden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Howard Collier; her brothers, Troy, Harold, and Alvin Breeden; and sister, Betty Shifflett.
Surviving is her brother, Amos Breeden and his wife, Audrey; sisters, Irene Roche and her husband, Hollis, and Pansy Terry and her husband, Steve; nieces, Nancy Staton, Tracy Roche, Angie Terry, Lisa Ellis, Sheila Breeden, Gail Watkins, Sandra Morris, Tammy Shifflett, Barbara Hussy, Judy Phelan, Pauline Dorsey; nephews, Tony Roche, Travis Terry, Butch Shifflett, Mike Breeden and Jimmy Breeden; and many great-nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the Pine Ridge Church of the Brethren. Some of her favorite times were spent working in her flowers, collecting her clowns and porcelain dolls, making quilts and bowling for many years, as well as sharing time with her family members and friends.
Special thanks to Grace Health and Rehab Nurses and Staff for the care that Mavis received during the many years she was resident and the Nurses and Chaplain of Southern Care Hospice Service.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail Ruckersville, VA 22968 with Pastor Eddie Deane officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.
