Lewis David Lamb, 60, of Ruckersville, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at UVA Medical Center. Born August 30, 1963, to the Late David Lamb and Hester Lamb. He was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Slaughter.
David is survived by his mother Hester Lamb, whom he affectionately called "Weezie" at times. Also surviving is his son Matthew David Lamb and his wife Michaela; Tonya Lamb, mother of his son; sisters Lisa Dean and her husband Mike; Barbara Taylor and her husband Robert (Dily); brother-in-law Mike Slaughter; sister-in-law Kathryn Whitlow and her husband Barry; brother-in-law Bobby Knighting; four grandchildren, Kayden, Elliette, Walker and Madelynn. David is also survived by nephews Joshua and Brandon Collier, James Dean, Michael Slaughter and Stevie Whitlow, whom he taught all about coon hunting; niece Monica Branch; numerous aunts and uncles and his very special friend, Joann Nicholas and his furry companion Bud Light. David had many friends that are far too numerous to list.
David was an avid coon hunter from a very young age. He got so much enjoyment from listening to the hounds barking and treeing a coon. He won many hunting tournaments and was so proud of those trophies and his dogs. He had several coon hunting "buddies" over the years that he spent a lot of time with.
David was employed by MPS in Orange for over 17 years. He had many close friends and colleagues who will greatly miss him.
Many summers were spent on the baseball field with Matthew, and David loved every minute. When he wasn't helping as a coach, he was on the sidelines cheering for Matthew and his team. He was never one for traveling, but it didn't matter where he had to go if it involved baseball with Matthew. He was always so proud of Matthew and what a "good kid" he was. He was even more proud of him as a grown man and the life he built for himself and his own family, often bragging about his accomplishments.
He thought his grandchildren were the most beautiful kids in the world and was very proud of them. He got so much enjoyment from being able to teach Kayden how to ride her bicycle.
The family would like to thank the special staff and UVA Medical Center's 4 South ICU. The care and compassion shown to David and his family was greatly appreciated. Thank you so much to the nurses who played his favorite bluegrass music.
