Leroy Breeden, 78, of Stanardsville, VA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 18, 2017. He was born on September 17, 1938 in Stanardsville, VA to the late Roy and Ethel Breeden.
Leroy proudly served in the US Army during the Cold War and later worked for Frank IX & Sons. After, he was a deputy sheriff in Greene County, VA and then a Sergeant at the Charlottesville/Albemarle Joint Security Complex where he retired.
He was also a member of the Greene County Rescue Squad. Leroy
loved to take care of his home inside and out. He could be found daily walking the streets of South River picking up trash on the side of the road. He enjoyed spending his days watching NASCAR (especially Richard Petty), the New York Yankees, and the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and spoiling them in every way possible.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Patricia Breeden of Stanardsville.
He is survived by his son, Timothy Lee Breeden and daughter, Teresa Lynn Breeden of Stanardsville; his granddaughters, Paige Nicole Breeden and Kaleigh Brooke Breeden; his grandson, Michael Anthony Breeden; his brother, Shirley Breeden and his wife, Norma of Stanardsville; his sister, Corrine Knight and her husband, Casper of Stanardsville; and his favorite pug, Mimi.
The family would like thank the staff of Cornell 3 at Martha Jefferson Hospital for the loving care and support they showed to Leroy and his family.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, VA 22968.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens with honors provided by the United States Army.
