Leddie Florence Knight

Leddie Florence Knight, 89, of Dyke, Virginia passed away on December 8, 2011.
She was born in Greene County on January 23, 1922 to late Jerry and Frankie F. Morris.
In addition to her parents, Leddie was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, James Thomas “Tom” Knight; two infant sons, Ray and Larry Knight; her brother, Wilbert Morris; and her daughter-in-law, Patsy S. Knight.
She leaves to cherish her memory her six children, J.T. Knight, Jr. and his wife, Charlotte of Stanardsville, Keith Knight and his wife, Paula of Charlottesville, Joyce Knight also of Charlottesville, Steve Knight and his wife, Shelby of Dyke, Rodney Knight and his wife, Vivian of Stanardsville, Gregg Knight and his wife, Mary of Ruckersville; nine grandchildren, Kim Knight Gentry and her husband, Butch, Travis Knight and his wife, Paula, Kirk Knight, Trevor Knight, Blair Knight, Drew Knight, Tyler Knight, Connor Knight and Satchel Knight; two great grandchildren, Thomas and Tenley Knight; two sisters, Eleanor “Sis” Breeden, Irene Shifflett and her husband, Walter; one brother, Charles Morris.
Leddie also leaves behind special friends, Elbert Shifflett, Kenny Workman, Linda Knight, Wanda Shifflett, Terri Knight and family, Sherry Short and family and Shelby Knight.
Leddie was a homemaker who raised a large family. There was always room in her home for anyone who needed shelter. She loved flowers in her yard and to laugh, but most of all, she loved her family.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 P.M. Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, Virginia.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Evergreen Church of the Brethren with the Rev. C. C. Kurtz and Rev. Patrick Kelliher officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either the Dyke Fire Department, PO Box 9. Dyke, Virginia 22935 or Evergreen Church of the Brethren c/o Stephanie Deal, 1102 Evergreen Church Road, Stanardsville, Virginia 22973.
The family would like a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at the University of Virginia ICU, NNICU, 3 East, Dr. Moores and his staff for the excellent care and support that was given.
