Laymon Breeden

Laymon Breeden of Stanardsville, Virginia, passed away on January 21, 2024, at 91 years of age after a short Illness.

He was born December 7, 1932, to John and Lessie Breeden. He was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Pansy Deane Breeden. Laymon outlived two of his children, daughter Gloria Stratton and son Robbie Breeden. He was also preceded in death by sister Aleene Teel and Companion of 30+ years, Elizabeth Payne.

Laymon is survived by son John Breeden (Doris), daughter Karen Mehlhaff (Byron), grandson Kevin Beamon, Blake Mehlhaff, Jeff Mehlhaff, and Eight great-grandchildren. Sister Norma Jean Jarrell and many nieces and nephews also survive him.

Laymon loved his South River Farm, which was his life-long calling after working at Virginia Metals in Orange for many years. He was drafted into the U.S. Army to serve his military obligation. In his younger days, he loved to hunt and enjoyed listening to bluegrass music, and more recently, he was happiest sitting on his front porch with his lap dogs.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Greene County EMS. 

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 25, 2024, from 5-7 pm at Batten Funeral Home in Ruckersville, Virginia. A graveside service will be held on January 26, 2024, beginning at 2 pm at Stanardsville Cemetery with Pastor Eddie Deane officiating.
