Kenneth R. Collier Sr. (73) of Ruckersville passed away at his residence on Sunday, February 16, 2025. He was born in Charlottesville, VA, on September 19th, 1951, to Catherine A. Collier and Fred R. Collier Sr. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his great-grandson Maeson Roach and his daughter-in-law Elizabeth (Teeny) Collier.
He is survived by his only son Kenneth R. Collier Jr., his brother Fred R. Collier Jr. (and his family), his two granddaughters Amanda Collier and Ashley Collier, and his 3 great-grandchildren Macie Roach, Ava Roach, and Alaina Collier.
Kenny grew up with a passion for all things automotive. He went on to study and graduate from Auto/Diesel College in Tennessee. He then proceeded to grow many businesses in the automotive field, including his business Carr Service Center, in Ruckersville, with his friend Lawrence Penn helping him by his side. He was a strong-willed and passionate person who fought for what he believed in, causing him to meet so many people in his journey. He expressed his love for older things through his original salvage yard business, showing many the advantages of renovation. He taught that love and passion to his granddaughters by walking them through that salvage yard and explaining the many things that once were and what it could become. He was a unique and eccentric soul who was loved dearly by his family. He always had the most amazing stories to tell and loved sharing family history. Whenever he entered a room, the whole atmosphere would change, and his unique character would make things so much better. There will never be another character quite like him in this world.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 6-8:00pm at Batten Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, beginning at noon at Batten Funeral Home. Funeral Home Chaplain, Pedro Thompson, will be officiating. Kenny believed in being comfortable, and the family asks to please feel free to dress casually when paying your respects.
