Justin Michael Tooley

Justin Michael Tooley, 45, of Stanardsville, VA, passed away peacefully into the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, August 8, 2023.

Justin was born in Charlottesville, VA on May 12, 1978.  He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, respected businessman, friend, and Christian. 

Justin worked in the fitness industry for over 20 years and was employed at his business, The Gym C’ville, located in Charlottesville, VA. He was a graduate of William Monroe High School where he played football under the late Coach Martin Mooney. He was the Director of Strength and Conditioning for the Virginia Basketball Academy and worked at ACAC Fitness and Wellness Center for 12 years as a solo and group trainer.  He was a NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist, Westside Barbell Special Strength & Conditioning Certified Professional Powerlifter, and Kettlebell Concept Certified CrossFit Movement & Mobility. Justin participated in and won many bodybuilding, power lifting, and strongman events.  He was also the recipient of C’ville Weekly’s Best Trainer Award ’07 and ’12, and runner-up ’08 and ’16.   

Justin worked with the Special Needs community and troubled juveniles, which led to the development of the Youth Empowerment Program.  He also worked with the UVA Wrestling Team, and he worked with the youth baseball and football teams in Greene.  

Justin was a man of strong faith, participated in mission trips, and held bible studies at his gym regularly. 

 Justin is survived by his parents, Duane and Doronda Tooley of Stanardsville, VA, brothers, Jason Tooley and Jeremy Tooley of Ruckersville, VA, He is also survived by his nephew Kolton Tooley and niece, Julianna Tooley, his aunt and uncle , Phil and Gwen Ann Noll of Martinsburg, WV and Cousin Jamie Noll of Martinsburg WV and numerous other relatives. Justin was preceded in death by his grandparents , William and Thelma Calahan, of Martinsburg WV, his niece, Jaida Madison Tooley, of Stanardsville, VA, and his canine companion Pigga, who went everywhere with him and was the mascot at The Gym Cville.
