Judith C West

Judith "Judy" Anne Campbell West, 70, of Stanardsville, VA passed away Tuesday, 28 December 2021.  She was born on 12 August 1951 to Nancy and Jesse Campbell of Loudon County.

Judy was a prominent member of the Green County community.  She taught in the Greene County Public School system for 33 years where she devoted her life to educating and nurturing her beloved first graders.  She was a constant source of love, support, and encouragement for all those she taught and for her co-workers that she so dearly loved.  In addition to teaching, Judy had an unrivaled passion for the outdoors.  She was always ready for a walk in the woods, to admire and point out the unique foliage and wildlife; she could spend an entire day enraptured by Mother Nature, especially surrounded by her pack of dogs.  She was an avid horseback rider, loved to be out in her garden surrounded by her whimsical yard decor, and could often be found skiing the slopes of Massanutten.  Judy loved being in the presence of her close friends that she had made throughout the years, many found during her various travels.  It was often said that Judy never met a person she couldn't talk with and she made friends wherever she went. 

As much as she loved all of these things, her love for her family surpassed them all, starting with the love of her life, Jim.  Judy and Jim met at Madison College in 1970, spending nearly 52 years together in utter bliss.  With that love, they brought three beautiful children into the world.  David, Meghan, and Emily quickly became her everything.  She loved and embraced motherhood, and this sentiment grew with the arrival of her grandchildren, James and Adelaide O'Rourke.  "BeeBee" was what all children hope for in a grandmother and they brought pure joy into her life. 

Judy is survived by her husband, James West, son David West and his wife Jennifer, daughter Meghan O'Rourke and her husband Jon and their children, and daughter Emily West and her fiance George, her brother Allen Campbell and his family, her sister Cathy Campbell-Pasquel and her family.  Her mother, Nancy Butler, father Jesse Campbell, and stepfather Robert Byrne preceded her in death.
