Joseph Hamilton Settle, 41, of Charlottesville, died October 22, 2011 at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
He was born June 21, 1970 to the late Betty Jean Settle Pritchett and was the grandson of the late Mamie A. Taylor and William (“Willie”) Taylor. He is survived by his wife Brenda Settle, his step-daughter Donna Carter, two step-grandchildren Shanta Havens and Darrell Majors III; two sisters, Judith Brown of Wolftown and Kimberly Settle of Fairfax; and a nephew Richard Brown III of Wolftown. Joseph is further survived by five aunts, Ruby Suter and husband Bill of Pasadena, Alice Taylor of Wolftown, Dorothy Morris and husband Edward of Earlysville, Evelyn Taylor of Jacksonville and Pansy McDaniel of Hood; two uncles, David Taylor and wife Judith of Wolftown and John McDaniel of Wolftown. He was preceded in death by three uncles, Dewey Taylor, Bernard Taylor and William (Bill) Taylor and one aunt, Margie McDaniel.
Joseph attended Madison County High School and went on to obtain his Commercial Driver’s License. He was employed for a number of years with a local hauling company operating heavy machinery. Joseph enjoyed doing automotive work, playing in a band and spending time with friends. He has been described as a loyal friend and someone who was always willing to lend a helping hand.
