John James Murray

John James “Jim” Murray, 91, of Ruckersville, Virginia passed away Friday, November 26, 2021 at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital.

Jim was born August 2, 1930 in Glassport, Pennsylvania, son of the late John Murray and Stella Makowski Murray

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Jim is survived by his wife, Donna Kerns Murray of Chesterfield, Virginia, four children, Beth Ann Murray Warner of Crozet, Virginia, Kevin John Murray (Kathryn) of Richmond, Virginia, Maureen Murray Coppa of Palmyra, Virginia, Melissa Murray Powell (Christopher) of Charlottesville, Virginia; one sister, Peg Mellott of Mckeesport, Pennsylvania; 12 grandchildren, Meghan, Michael, Connor, Noah, Forrest, Spencer, Evelyn, Haden, Skyler, Avery, Lila, and Virginia; and many other extended family and friends.

Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and attended Duquesne University on the G.I. Bill, graduating in 1958. After graduation, he was recruited by the Central Intelligence Agency, where he enjoyed a 50-year career, which included honorably serving in the Johnson White House.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church, 6562 Amicus Road Ruckersville, Virginia 22968 with Rev. Fr. Michael Mugomba officiating. Interment will be held at 1:00 P. M. at Culpeper National Cemetery with military honors.
