James Willis Trudgeon

James Willis Trudgeon, 88, of Charlottesville, VA died on Friday, November 25, 2011 at Rosewood Village, Greenbrier.

Jim was born on December 22, 1922 in Miami, OK, the 13th child of Charles and Margaret Newlands Trudgeon.

In addition to his parents and siblings, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sherrill Simonds Trudgeon and his eldest son, Michael Trudgeon.

Jim is survived by two sons, Timothy Trudgeon and Scott Trudgeon, and three daughters, Jennifer Trudgeon Bone, Lorayne Trudgeon Wright, and Sally Trudgeon.

He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Heather Turpin, Jennifer Cox, Alia Trudgeon, Will Wright, and Jaxon Wright and 2 great granddaughters, Lyvia Turpin and Peri Turpin.

Trudge was a Navy Pilot and veteran in WWII. He devoted a lifetime of service to his country in the US Navy, US Postal Service and Federal Aviation Administration. He volunteered his time with the Greene County Singers, Greene County Rescue Squad, American Legion and Boy Scouts of America. Jim was a longtime supporter of Public Television, the Salvation Army and Albemarle SPCA.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail Ruckersville, VA 22968.

A private interment will be held in Riverview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 207 Ridge St
Charlottesville, VA 22902, Albemarle SPCA, 3355 Berkmar Dr Charlottesville, VA 22901 and/or the Greene County Rescue Squad, PO Box 32 Stanardsville, VA 22973.
The family wishes to express their sincerest thanks to Hospice of the Piedmont and Rosewood Village and their wonderful staff for the loving care and concern they provided Dad.
