Ira Neal Bass
Ira Neal Bass of Stanardsville, VA passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 peacefully in his home “at The Top of Mountain”, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on September 9, 1929 in Okay, Arkansas to Ira Lee Bass and Jessie Leona Bass.
He graduated at Manteca High School in Manteca, CA Class of 1948. Following graduation he served with the US Army in the Korean War. He served from 1948 to 1955 and was honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant. After his time in the service, he ran many businesses, including a well-drilling business, an auto garage and a grocery store. He was a much loved member of the community. He continued to work after selling his business and retired from McDonalds at the age of 89. He was proud to be a member of the Freemasons and believed heartily in giving back to the community.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Willard Dean Bass and a step-son, Jonathan Scott Davis, Sr.
Surviving him are his wife, Sally Jane Bass; his sister, Donna Bass Wise; his three daughters, Debbie Bass Ross and her husband, Steve, Donna Bass Collins and Kara Leona Bass; his step-children, Kevin James Clatterbuck, Jeffrey Owen Davis, Samantha Lynn LeBrun and Jessica Renee Davis; 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
No funeral services will be held at this time. A celebration of his life will be held at a future undetermined date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Veteran’s Association. Visit http://vetsaa.org/477323 for more information on donation.
