Helen V. Mitchell, 98, of Stanardsville passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2013.
Helen was born November 30, 1914 in Greene County, daughter of the late Asbury Shifflett and Bessie Breeden Shifflett.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert L. Mitchell; three sisters, Frances Collier, Marie Layton and Ruby Shifflett; one brother, Lloyd Shifflett.
Helen is survived by four nieces, Patricia Harlowe, Phyllis Knight, Joyce Lowe and Janice Lucas; two nephews, W.H. Layton, Jr. and Winston Shifflett; and many other family members and friends.
She was a retired administrator at Federal Tin.
A private family graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. C. C. Kurtz officiating.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Brooke Bostic and the staff of The Renaissance for all of their love, care and support of Helen.
