Gwyndolyn Gifford Hall Powers of Madison, Virginia passed away Monday, May 6, 2019 on her 81st birthday.
Gifford was born May 6, 1938 in Washington, D.C., the only child of Warren G. Hall, II and Eunice Gwyndolyn Swart Hall.
She is survived by her loving sons, Warren Lee Powers and his wife, Sarita and Matthew Bromley Powers and his wife, Kimberly all of Madison, VA ; three grandsons, Ryan Steele Powers of Alexandria, VA, Noah Christian-Hall Powers and Caleb Marshall Powers both of Madison, VA; four granddaughters, Camryn Thompson Powers, Abigail Renae Powers, Kendall Lee Powers and Bethany Erin Powers all of Madison; and many other extended family members and friends.
Gifford owned and operated “Mulberry Magic Florist and Gifts” in Madison and Greene Counties from 1981 to 1997. She was known for her artistic talents in stenciling, floral design, custom made lamp shades and country crafts. Gifford’s favorite role was that of devoted wife, mother and “Ghe-Ma” to her seven grandchildren.
She was a dedicated member of Madison Church of the Brethren and served her church and Lord faithfully as a Sunday School Teacher, a member of the Fellowship Committee and Church Board, church delegate to the District and Annual Conference, church representative for the District Disaster Committee and Camp Brethren Woods, wrote the church newsletter and in her spare time was the church’s “interior designer.”
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail Ruckersville, VA 22968.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Ryan Funeral Home with Pastor Ed Morris officiating. Interment will follow at Madison Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Medi Hospice especially, Chastity Taylor and Wanda Shifflett; special caregiver, Cheryl Dodson; and special friends, Ed and Brenda Morris, for always being supportive of our family and Gifford.
