Glenn Elliott Gilbert
Glenn Elliott Gilbert, 67, of Ruckersville, VA died on Monday, July 2, 2012 at his residence. He was born on March 14, 1945 in Ruckersville, VA to the late Benjamin Elliott and Ruth Evelyn Gilbert.
Mr. Gilbert was a veteran of the United States Army and served our country in Vietnam. He was a man of many hobbies that enjoyed collecting antique pocket knives and watches, going to antique malls with his family, classic car enthusiast, history scholar (especially WWII), fishing and playing bluegrass music on the guitar. Above all, he was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother and friend who will truly be missed.
He is survived by his children, David Gilbert of Ruckersville, Elizabeth Gilbert and her husband, Chris Pritchett of Christiansburg, VA and Rachel Gilbert of Ruckersville.
Additional survivors include his siblings, Gloria Moles of Waynesboro and Gregory Gilbert of Stanardsville, his grandchildren, Caelan Bobby Kendall Patterson, Lillian Delilah Patterson and Nathaniel Glenn Gilbert and two special friends, Mike Moles and Joe Wilson.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Gilbert and his brother, Bobby Kendall Gilbert.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Gilbert’s name to The Veterans Fund 4240 Portsmouth Boulevard PMB 425 Chesapeake, VA 23321.
