Glen William Richards

Glen William Richards, 89, of Ruckersville VA, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Washington, DC on July 19, 1925 to the late Verna and William Richards.
Glen was an avid collector of tools and antiques as well as a furniture maker. He loved fishing, camping and boating, especially on the Chickahominy River. He was a self employed building contractor for many years. Glen was an active member of Cedar Grove Church of the Brethren.
He was a Navy Veteran having served in World War II. He was a member of the American Legion and the Piedmont-Stella Masonic Lodge. 50 A.F. & A.M. Stanardsville, VA.
Glen is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Doris Frances Richards; their 4 children; Glenda R. Trimmer and her husband Bill of Fairfax, Marcia R. Canada and her husband Lloyd of Stanardsville, Debbie R. Estes and her husband Aubrey of Stanardsville, Glen William “Billy” Richards, Jr. and his wife Lois of Dyke; 11 grandchildren; Bryce Trimmer, Timothy Trimmer, Melissa Bigler, Michelle C. Proffitt, Heather C. Nothstine, Adam Canada, Joe Henshaw, Stephanie E. Eddins, Shannon Estes, Christopher Richards, Whitney R. Clay and 18 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 8, 2015 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail Ruckersville, VA 22968.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Cedar Grove Church of the Brethren in Ruckersville, VA with Pastor Johnny Hawkins.
Interment will follow at Wetsel Family Cemetery in Ruckersville, VA with Masonic rights.
