Geneva Viola Hoke

December 18, 1940 — September 10, 2020

Geneva Viola Hoke, 79, of Charlottesville, Virginia passed away Thursday, September 10, 2020, at her home.

She was born December 18, 1940, in Lenoir, North Carolina, daughter of the late Ronald Lester McCloud and Mary Elizabeth Moser McCloud.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ulysses C. Hoke; sister, Dolly Whistnant; and grandson, Gemini Ray Bryant.

Viola is survived by her children, Rebecca Salada, Howard Bryant, Danny Critcher, and Jeffrey Hoke; brother, Maynard McCloud; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; very good friend, Roy Morris; and many other family members and friends.

Viola’s grandson, Gemini, was raised by her for 19 years prior to his passing. She was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church.  Viola was a loving and caring provider for not only her family but also for many other she raised or touched their lives while in foster care.  She loved cooking and working in her garden.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Sunday, September 13, 2020, at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail Ruckersville, VA 22968.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, September 14, 2020, at Ryan Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.
