Garland Ervin Lawson

Garland Ervin Lawson, 53, of Greene and Augusta County, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2011 at Augusta Medical Center. He was born on January 8, 1958 to the late Hiram Jackson and Givy Pearl Eppard Lawson.

Mr. Lawson enjoyed horticulture and being outdoors, hunting, fishing and gardening. Most of all his love was in his family, friends and playing with grandchildren. His loving spirit and sweet nature will be missed by all.

He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie T. Lawson, three devoted children, Sharon Taylor and her husband, Daniel, Shea Lawson and Tony Sorrells and his cherished grandchildren, Evan and Delana Taylor and Garland Gage Sorrells.

Additional survivors include his brothers, Charles and his wife, Carolyn, Doug and his wife, Rose, Gilmer and his wife, Faye and Randall and his wife, Ann, his best friend, James Scott and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Winifred E. Tomlin and granddaughter, Ella Lawson Taylor.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Augusta County Fire & Rescue Squad, Augusta Medical Center and everyone who was involved in caring for our husband, father, grandfather and brother.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 7, 2011 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail Ruckersville, VA 22968.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 11 a.m. at First Bible Baptist Church, 335 Crusaders Ct, Ruckersville, VA 22968 with Rev. Jim Woods officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to First Bible Baptist Church, 335 Crusaders Ct, Ruckersville, VA 22968 and/or United Christian Academy, PO Box 486, Stanardsville VA, 22973.

Interment will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.
