Fred Arnold Morris, Jr.
Fred “Arnold” Morris, Jr., 68, of Ruckersville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond, VA.
Arnold was born on March 29, 1946 in Charlottesville, VA, the son of the late Fred A. Morris, Sr., and Reba Gurtler Dotson. He grew up working on the family farm in Greene County and graduated from William Monroe High School. After graduation he proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his stepfather. George J. Dotson; his brother-in-law, Ray E. Baugher; and his beloved dog, “Maggie”.
He is survived by his stepmother, Irene Morris; his sister, Karen Baugher; his brothers, Keith Morris and wife, Jackie, Stanley Morris and wife, Patti, and Layton Morris all of Stanardsville, VA and Alvin Shifflett and wife, Terri of Richmond; and numerous nieces and nephews, including one great-nephew he was especially close to, Paden Garrard.
Throughout his life, Arnold was a devoted Christian and relied on his faith to get him through difficult times. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and helping anyone anyway he could. He will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail Ruckersville, VA 22968.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home with Rev. Wendell Lamb officiating.
Interment will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.
