Floyd Alton Roach

Floyd Alton Roach, 63, of Stanardsville died on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at his residence. He was born on July 8, 1947 in Greene County to the late Andrew and Carrie Roach.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Doris Roach, two sons, Chad and his wife Becky, Andrew and his wife, Heather both of Stanardsville, and two grandchildren, Brody and Cameron.
Additional survivors include his brothers, Charles Roach of Richmond and James Roach of PA and his sisters, Virgie Deane of Stanardsville, Virginia Snow of Stanardsville, Lena Woodson of Tennessee, Edith Conley of Stanardsville and Thelma Morris of Richmond and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
Alton was a member of Stanardsville United Methodist Church and a veteran of the United States Army. He built custom homes. He enjoyed NASCAR races, Redskin football and golfing.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 30, 2010 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, VA 22968.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 31, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Stanardsville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Catharine Guest officiating.
Interment will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Oliver Morris, Bobby Shifflett, Steve Branham, Larry Snow, Martin Mooney, and Kenny Shifflett. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lebert Deane, Melvin Shifflett, Floyd Snow, George Lamb, Wayne Yates and Gary Sims.
The family would like to thank Martha Jefferson Hospital Cancer Center, Dr. Gordon Morris and his staff and Hospice of the Piedmont for their wonderful care.
