Faye Taylor Lawson

April 29, 1946 — February 13, 2025

Stanardsville

Faye Taylor Lawson went to join her Lord on February 13, 2025. We know that she was welcomed by her best friend and sister, Francis Hensley. Faye was born on April 29, 1946, in Charlottesville, Va. to the late Brooksey Taylor and the late Gladys Shifflett Taylor. She married the love of her life, Gilmer Lawson, and they together built a home in Stanardsville, VA.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents, her sister Francis (Taylor) Hensley and Husband Tommy, brother Roger Taylor, and nephew Rodney Taylor.

She is survived by a multitude of family that loved her tremendously. A husband of 63 years, Gilmer Earl Lawson of Stanardsville. Two brothers, Steve Taylor & wife Susie and Archie Taylor & wife Janet. Two sons, Clinton Earl Lawson & wife Monica of Stanardsville and Anthony Keith Lawson & wife Bonnie of Ruckersville. Four grandchildren, who referred to her as either their “Dada” or “Mimi”. Kelsie (Lawson) Palmer & husband Dustin of Ruckersville, Cameron Lawson & wife Hannah of Madison, Umai Giraldo and Ethan Lawson both of Stanardsville.

Multiple nieces and nephews: Rhonda (Taylor) Oliver & husband Lance, Tammy (Taylor) Kitchen & husband RG, Dennis Taylor & wife Angie, Michael Taylor, Brandy (Taylor) Morris & husband Scott, and Travis Hensley & wife Ellen. Also many great nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by the joys of her life, the little ones. She would light up around her great-grandbabies. She was known by her great-grandbabies as “Dada” Kylie Palmer and her Dada would often play Old Maid on Sundays. Dada would let her win naturally. Landon Palmer would take her on adventures to find new hiding spots in the yard while playing hide-n-seek. Lane Lawson had her pushing him on the swing set and Blakely Lawson enjoyed snuggling with her. Her great niece, Rowan Hensley, was another little joy that she treated as another great-grandbaby. Rowan would have “Aunt Faye” read the Little Engine That Could frequently.

Faye had multiple friends that she and Gilmer would spend time with. She enjoyed sitting on her porch waiting for the next visitor. Her neighbors, Jesse & Becky Sheckler would frequently visit and spend time on that porch conversing and enjoying donuts and coffee. Brandon & Amber McDaniel and their daughter, Anna would also visit frequently. Anna had become a bonus grandchild over the years and they would enjoy cheese and crackers together. Griffith & Lillian would pop in at times also. She and Gilmer would also join Dewey & Joyce Taylor for dinners out, usually at Traditions in Harrisonburg. There are so many others that visited and sat on that porch. Faye cherished every one of them.

Faye loved the Lord with all her heart and she cherished every one of her family members. Gilmer and Faye spent years traveling to Pigeon Forge for their yearly get-aways. She always got so excited to be going to the “Dixie Stampede”. Faye was not a shopper however, prior to her sisters death, she enjoyed going shopping just to be with Francis.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the Greene County Rescue Squad and EMS Team for their hard work and assistance. We would also like to the thank the Greene County Sheriffs Office and Batten Funeral Home for all their help and making the funeral arrangements seamless and smooth. We appreciate First Bible Baptist Church and the Dyke Fire Dept for allowing us to use their facilities the day of the service.

Faye will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Services will be held at First Bible Baptist Church, 335 Crusaders Ct Ruckersville, VA. on Monday, February 17, 2025 at 11:00 am. Family and friends will be received at 10:00 am. Interment will be held at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with fellowship to follow at Dyke Fire Department.
