Ellis Elwood Samuels, 82, of Stanardsville, VA died on Friday, January 04, 2013 at The Harbor of Greene surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 15, 1930 in Virginia to the late Pannie Samuels and Mertie Lamb Samuels.

Mr. Samuels served our country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Comdial in 1995 after 30 years of service and was a member of the Lydia Pentecostal Church for over 60 years where he enjoyed playing the guitar and bass.

He is survived by his children, Kenneth Samuels and his wife, Sandy of Stanardsville, Keith Samuels and his wife, Tina of Barboursville, Kevin Samuels and his wife, Lavonda of Marble City, OK and Krystal Waters and her husband, Dwayne of Stanardsville.

Additional survivors include his siblings, Pansy McDaniel and Gaither Samuels, grandchildren, Shalon Coleman, Dylan Samuels, Grace Samuels, Anna Samuels, Lakeila O’Fields, KeAnna Samuels, Jacob Samuels, Savannah Brinkley, Dakota Waters and Skylar Waters and great grandchildren, Shane and Shania.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Louise Samuels, and his siblings, Gilbert Samuels, Bertha Samuels, Gladys Teel and Olivan Samuels.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 6, 2013 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail Ruckersville, VA 22968.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 7, 2013 at Lydia Pentecostal Church at 11 a.m. with Brother Eddie Deane officiating.

Interment will follow in Lydia Pentecostal Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association 674 Hillsdale Dr Suite 1 Charlottesville, VA 22901.
